Mural project at Confluence Academy-South City gets noticed by St. Louis Public Radio

On Wednesday, December 30, 2015, teacher and staff volunteers met in the cafeteria of Confluence Academy-South City's Compton building for a special project.

Local artist Cbabi Bayoc, creator of '365 Days with Dad,' designed a mural for the Compton building cafeteria. The mural represents the students who attend the school, and it also promotes healthy lifestyles through eating fruit and vegetables. The mural covers an entire wall of the cafeteria.

The project has been in the works for months. In the beginning, CA-South City needed to raise $5,000 to complete the project, but fundraising efforts stalled at $850. However, through a fellowship from the Regional Arts Commission, Bayoc is able to continue work on the mural. The money raised by CA-South City paid for the cost of supplies.

St. Louis Public Radio visited our school as the painting began. Check out their story.

The mural will be a colorful surprise for the students when they return to school from winter break on January 5, 2016.
