The Board of Directors of Confluence Charter Schools accepted recommendations to hire principals for Aspire Academy, Confluence Academy-Old North and Grand Center Arts Academy for 2017-2018.
Lacqweda Taylor will serve as principal at Aspire Academy; Syreeta Holland will serve as interim principal at Confluence Academy-Old North; and Gina Bell-Moore will be the principal of the upper academy at Grand Center Arts Academy. Their roles are effective July 1.
“I’m most pleased to welcome new principals to Confluence Charter Schools,” said Dr. Candice Carter-Oliver, chief executive officer. “Each of them bring unique talents and skills that I believe align with our vision and mission to improve student achievement in all of our schools.”
Lacqweda Taylor, Aspire Academy
Taylor is an assistant principal at Confluence Academy-South City, leading grades PreK-2. Her career began 12 years ago as a second-grade teacher at Aspire, when it was known as Confluence Academy-Walnut Park. She has advanced from the classroom into leadership roles throughout her tenure.
“Ms. Taylor has served the Confluence community as a teacher and an administrator. Her participation in various committees, both at school and at the Resource Office level, has benefited our organization. Her strong instructional background and trauma-informed leadership practices will improve student achievement at Aspire Academy,” said Carter-Oliver.
Aspire Academy educates children in grades PreK-6.
Syreeta Holland, Confluence Academy-Old North
Holland is an assistant principal at Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School. Her 15-year career in education includes experience as a middle school counselor in the Hazelwood School District, and a special education teacher and team leader in St. Louis Public Schools.
“Ms. Holland has worked in both private and public schools. She, too, has a strong instructional background with experience in special education and counseling. Her attention to detail and high expectations of self and others will be an asset to Confluence Academy-Old North,” said Carter-Oliver.
Confluence Academy-Old North educates children in grades PreK-6.
Gina Bell-Moore, Grand Center Arts Academy
Bell-Moore has more than 20 years of experience in education. She’s been a classroom teacher and an assistant principal with Special School District of St. Louis County and the Normandy School District.
“Ms. Bell-Moore has a strong background in instruction. She has experience in diverse schools that tailor to students’ individual needs. Her support to teachers, her strong appreciation for the arts and rapport with parents and students is commendable,” said Carter-Oliver.
