South City Students Compete in City-Wide Reading Competition

The 3-5 graders at South City got to participate in a special event this week, Saint Louis’ third Elementary Book Battle. This competition promotes a love of reading among students by encouraging them to read a list of 12 excellent books. Students are challenged to remember information about the plots, characters and settings of the books. They also learn cooperation and dedication as they compete in a team of 10 students to represent their schools in the St. Louis area. The event was hosted in South City’s library and there were teams from 10 different schools in attendance.

This event was made possible through a Friends of Confluence Grant.
